ABOUT
Winston received numerous awards, including his Kindergarten Certificate of Completion, which was presented in his honor to his brother Ahmad at the ceremony. He believed that God was not just good, but GREAT. His dream was for everyone in the world to be kind. Even at such a young age, Winston was an innovator. He was the co-owner of Kool Kings Concessions, LLC, where he actively participated in efforts to raise money to feed the homeless.
May 13, 2022, started off as a normal Friday. The family got up for work and school and prepared for their Family Friday Night gathering. As Winston and his family returned home and began settling in for Saturday, around 11:35 pm they heard gunshots outside their home. Bullets entered the house, and two of those bullets struck Winston as he lay on the sofa watching cartoons. This tragic and senseless act changed their lives forever. Though the pain is unimaginable, the family has chosen to turn their pain into purpose.
In Winston’s memory, his family has continued to honor his light by serving others. They distributed 250 food boxes in his community for Thanksgiving, fed the North High School band and basketball team, purchased a cargo trailer to help Kool Kings Concessions reach its goals, and participated in community parades to raise awareness about gun violence.
Once again, senseless gun violence has claimed a life. Losing Winston has shown us that gun violence does not discriminate. No matter how much a parent tries to protect a child, gun violence found its way into their home shattering the hopes and dreams of an innocent and precious life. Still, his family stands committed to ensuring that Winston’s legacy continues to inspire kindness, service, and change.Fhome
